Rakhine Singer Khaing Min Thwe Among Two Civilians Tortured in Video Released by ARA
Videos circulating widely on social media have revealed two civilians, including well-known Rakhine singer Khaing Min Thwe, being tortured by members of the Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA), a Rohingya extremist armed group.
The footage was uploaded on the evening of November 21 by a Facebook account named Mestar Fahad, believed to be operated by the ARA. The videos quickly spread across platforms, sparking public outrage.
In the clips, an armed ARA member interrogates one of the detainees in Burmese, asking, “Where are you from?” The victim responds that he is from Sittwe. Both civilians appear visibly injured, indicating they were subjected to severe mistreatment.
Local communities and rights observers have strongly condemned the acts, describing them as clear violations of human rights and a worrying escalation of brutality in the region.
Further details surrounding the circumstances of the abduction and torture remain unclear, and no group has released information about the current condition or whereabouts of the victims.
